    DO NOT GET THIS TOY!!!!

I got this for my 18 month old granddaughter, but before even giving it to her there was a problem! As with everything thing else, because I know it will possibly go in her mouth, I disinfected it, and placed it on the washer. Every single color bled!! Not only that, when I went to take them off the washer it took the paint off my washer, as they stuck, and the paint off the blocks. I have pics, but not sure how to include. I cleaned by using antibacterial dish liquid, nothing harsh. I am so disappointed. This should never have happened!!!!!

Well-made, interesting even to a 1-year-old, and useful up to age 3 or more

My son was relieved that I had intentionally chosen a toy with NO BATTERIES and made of wood for his daughter. She is a just a bit young for this, but it should provide fun and learning for a couple of years. At present she tries to put a block into the correct hole, but can't quite manage the turning of the wrist needed to get it done. The blocks and box do make a very satisfying click sound when banged together, though--much better than plastic.

Product is a definite learning tool. Teachers names and shapes. Only criticism is the top opening does not lock so hard to turn with blocks inside. I will put on a velcro lock!

Nice activity for our one year old grandson. We're only using a couple of the shapes to get him used to it but he loves it.

Paint comes off! Corners super sharp.

My father got this for my son as a present when he was around 10 months old and a few minutes after he started playing with it, I noticed red things all over his mouth. The paint had immediately come off the toy and my son had eaten it and had some in/ all over his mouth. It's very dangerous. The recommended age is 1 year old, but even 1-year-olds still put things in their mouth, so this is most certainly not age-appropriate or safe in any way! The corners are also extremely sharp and hazardous for babies/ toddlers. They could easily get hurt if they fell on one of the corners.

    Don't Buy! Paint comes off!

My father got this toy for my son when he was about 10 months old (my son is very advanced and could walk at 7 months). Even so, age doesn't matter, because the paint comes off of this toy! He started playing with it until I noticed red things all over his mouth. The paint had come off of the shapes and he had eaten it and had it all over/ in his mouth! It's very dangerous for babies and even toddlers. It's not like once a baby turns one (the recommended age for this product), that they stop putting things in their mouth. Toddlers continue to put stuff in their mouths, so this is not appropriate for the recommended age or anyone who still puts things in their mouth.

I put in the play value and scale inputs since they're required, but currently I haven't actually let me daughter interact with the toy. The corners of the box are too sharp. I love the concept and think it will be a great toy when she's older (she's 11.5 months), but I just can't get comfortable right now leaving it with her. If the wood could be smoothed out on the corners, that would be awesome. We love all of our other (many) Fat Brain toys!!

The product is very well made. My 15-month grandson loves the colors and shapes. He can't quite get them into the box yet, but he loves to stack them and play with them outside the box.

This is great! High-quality craftsmanship, a good variety of shapes and colors, and not too heavy for a little one to maneuver around, especially for the price.

    Fun, but paint chips easily

My 13-month-old enjoys this toy. She loves to take the blocks out, feel them, put them back in through the trapdoor on top (we're still working on the sorting), and of course, chew on them. I was disappointed that the paint chipped off a couple of the blocks after only a couple of uses. We have several other wooden toys that she chews on and they have never chipped like this.

Bought as a gift for my newphew. He loves the noise the blocks make when he bangs them together. He's just a year old so needs someone to show him what he's supposed to do with the blocks but once he's shown he'll sit for 5-6 mins at a time to play with it. He also loves to walk and shake the box with the blocks inside of it.

I am caring for my 9 month old granddaughter and purchased the shape sorter. it is a well made product in both design and materials. She has learned to bang blocks together which is developing her small motor skills. She tries to stack the shapes, and has used them the "cut" a few teeth. She really enjoys dumping them all over the floor and i am teaching her to put them back in the box. It is good toy which engages her for periods of up to 15 minutes by herself. I feel it will become a favorite.

Functionally this is a fine toy, and the quality is good. I have two main complaints! The first is that the box doesn't secure closed, so you can't have fun shaking the pieces around inside or toss it in the car without the pieces falling out. The second complaint (silly, though it may be) is that this requires some serious concentration! There are only a couple colors of the blocks, and a ton of the pieces look really similar (hexagon, octagon for example) and so it's going to really put my kiddo to the test. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's more advanced than I was aiming for with my 9 month old. :)

This is a well-made toy, probably best for 1 - 2years or more, because it really requires the child to understand the concept and the shapes. lovely colors, nice quality. I'm very glad I got it for my grandson.

    Shapes Crack Easily

My one year old only used this toy twice before two of the blocks showed cracks. One cracked so deeply it would be easy to pull a piece of the wood off and swallow. Would not recommend.

I liked the quality of the product. Very nice wood used and made well. My only problem is how easy the top opens. It would seem like some small catch would be helpful- like a magnet- that could be pulled open but not flip open right away. it's hard for the child to turn it over to find where the shape goes as the lid flops open and spills out all the blocks inside. I can see where that would be frustrating.

My grandson is 14 months and he was able to open the door and put the blocks in that way. His father has since placed Velcro on the doors to keep it closed
